Three days, eleven diverse program items and 21 people between the ages of 16 and 40 who share a passion: the referee. These are the hard facts of the premiere of "Professe becomes coach" on the DFB campus. The course, financed and carried out by the fund of the elite referees and supported by the DFB Foundation Egidius Braunlast weekend brought 21 referees from various national associations in Frankfurt on the DFB campus. Based on the "Professions become a godfather" campaign, the course "Profi becomes coach" the next of many highlights that from the "Year of the referees"were created.

The participants got to know the campus as part of the event and listened to the lectures of the active top referees. Topics were, among other things, the game management under pressure, the analysis of current EM scenes or workshops for decision-making and sports psychology. Leave Harm Osmerswho headed the course as a member of the fund committee, Sascha Stegemann, Lutz Wagner and Patrick Alt participate in the base of their wealth of experience.

"The program was very attractive"

But not only the "school desk" was pressed. The amateur referees came under the direction of Florian Lechner, Referee of the 2nd Bundesliga, also really sweating and, in addition to various running units, also completed mobility exercises in which the athletes brought their bodies to their limits. "Usually there are national teams, referees of the Bundesliga or the women's Bundesliga on the DFB campus. Our idea was to appreciate those who stand on the amateur football fields and to show the setting of how it works in professional football ", said Osmers. "That is why we considered developing a program that has a professional framework but is for the amateurs."

Said amateurs were delighted with the appreciation that was shown to them by the project. "I think that this course is an outstanding possibility of creating an award in this form for the amateur referees who have been in the process for years and giving them a highlight," said Alexander Roßmell, Oberliga referee from Thuringia.

The conclusion of both the organizer side and the participant side was consistently positive: "The group went through great. We had cool speakers. The program was very attractive and the framework conditions were mega. I think that we think the amateur Schiris offer this option, "said Osmers. The Bundesliga referee and his colleagues Sascha Stegemann, Jan Seidel, Daniel Siebert and Christian Dingert - The heads of the fund, so to speak, selected the happy amateurs from more than 400 applications. According to Osmers, the main focus was on commitment and enthusiasm in her application letters.
