Why Wolfgang Scheu took the pipe in his hand
His enthusiasm for football led him to TSV Wittlingen. When the association had to deal with a lack of referees, the question arose who was willing to take responsibility. The proposal to become a referee himself couldn't let go. Without further ado, he registered for the course and successfully passed the exam in December 1974.
The way through the referee sport
At the age of 18, Wolfgang Scheu started his career as a game director in the youth area and gained initial experience as a referee early on. Classic support from a sponsor, as is common today, did not exist at the time, so he managed his first game in the A-youth independently.
At the same time, there was also afraid of active football players up to the district league (BZL). He also took responsibility in addition to the field early on: at the age of 26 he was active in the committee of the referee group Münsingen.
In the 1990/91 season, the sporting promotion to the Landesliga followed. There he led games together with well -known referees such as salver and Kircher.
He was also regularly used as a referee assistant during this time. But in the 1994/95 season, Scheu had to end his active referee career in the Beo. essence due to health problems (heelsprone).
Two years later, he took over the function of the SRG Münsingen chairman and thus succeeded Gottlieb strongly. He performed this office with great commitment for over six and a half years. At the same time, he was active in the local service and took on a new, time-consuming responsibility professionally, which is why he finally gave up the chairman.
Today Wolfgang Scheu is still committed to referee; He has headed games in the youth area and in the hall for around five years and brings his experience in the coaching area.
He was given numerous awards for his many years of operation, including the bronze, silver and golden badge of honor from the Wüttemberg Football Association (WFV). With his versatile commitment and long -term loyalty to sport, Wolfgang Scheu has left lasting traces.
Honors and awards
Wolfgang Scheu has received multiple awards in the course of his many years of referee. From the WFV he received the referee badge of teaching for his voluntary work.
For numerous guided games, he received awards for over 250, 500, 750 and finally 1,000 in-certificates- an impressive evidence of his perseverance, reliability and passion for the referee.
Current activity and health background
For around five years, Wolfgang Scheu has mainly been used in the youth area and in indoor games as referees. He is also actively involved in the coaching area, where he passes on his many years of experience to young referees.
The change to this area of activity took place for health reasons, in particular due to persistent knee problems. In 2022 he underwent knee surgery that made an adaptation of his active referee activity.
Association for TSV Wittlingen
Throughout his 50-year referee activity, Wolfgang Scheu was continuously registered as an eligible referee for TSV Wittlingen. During this time, TSV Wittlingen counted up to 22 referees at times and, behind VfB Stuttgard, was the second largest club (in the Wüttemberg Football Association) with a supervisor.
Overview of honorary posts and hobbies
Wolfgang Scheu has been volunteering in various areas of the club and community life for many years. He was active in the home club TSV Wittlingen in a variety of ways: as a referee, organizer in the youth development association, trainer of the women handball team as well as department head for gymnastics, athletics and table tennis. His many years of commitment has significantly shaped club life.
In addition to sport, Wolfgang Scheu is an integral part of volunteering in Wittlingen. He has been involved in the Association of Bürger Wittlingen (BVW) for over ten years and is committed to the beautification and care of the townscape. He also supports the diakonia by regularly delivering warm meals to older fellow citizens. He is also actively involved in the table in Bad Urach.
Wolfgang Scheu actively and creatively spends his free time. He likes to ride a bike, likes to dance and play harmonica and mandolin. He is also an enthusiastic singer in the men's choir and in the mixed choir.
Use in the benefit game in Münsingen
In January 1994, Wolfgang Scheu was a referee assistant in a special benefit game that was under the impression of a tragic event. The occasion was the sudden and early death of Reimund Kächele, the long -time department head of SG Seeburg and estimated sports comrades. The regional football community deeply shook his unexpected death and called out great sympathy.
In honor of Raimund Kächele and to support his family, a benefit game was organized that received great attention. The game between VfB Stuttgart and GSV Maichingen took place on the sports field in Münsingen and combined sporting engagement with human connection.
Wolfgang Scheu participated in this game as a referee assistant. Together with Hans Holder, he supported the renowned Bundesliga referee Eugen Strigel in the management of the encounter. It was more than just a sporting effort for everyone involved - it was a sign of solidarity, respect and dignified thought of a committed colleague of amateur football.

Wishes for the new generation in referee sports
For the upcoming generation of referees and referees, Wolfgang Scheu wants one thing above all: that they not only exercise their office for themselves, but also to actively support them in the consciousness of being part of an association.
At the same time, he encourages young people not to neglect their hobbies and personal interests. Because a balanced commitment, be it in sports, volunteering or at work, can not only be enriching personally, but also play a valuable role in the résumé.
The continuous development is also important to him: Anyone who is committed to the referee should be open to new experiences and ready for constant training, both next to the square.
We would like to thank Wolfgang Scheu for his many years of commitment and tireless efforts - sowing and next to the field and express our highest recognition.
